…of that song by, The Warratahs. It’s called, The Wheel Inside. I tried to imbed it here. Sorry, there’s something I don’t understand about how to do that. You can find it though. They’re a band from New Zealand that I first heard in the soundtrack of The Brokenwood Mysteries. The first line is, “Watching the lightning come down…”While I’m recommending, they have an another song that moves me, Silver Train. There’s something about that band’s sound that is so familiar and yet altogether new at the same time. I figured it out!! Link below.
Anyway, it’s a rainy morning here. Rumbling thunder. A steady downpour. I’m also reminded of living in Seattle when I turned twenty five. It rained and rained. I bought a felt hat with a brim so walking in the rain was a pretty okay experience. My mother came to visit and we drove up to Vancouver. I don’t remember much about that trip. Where did she stay? With me? Did we stay in Vancouver overnight? Where? I can’t imagine that we drove back in the same day? Odd. I was so lost then. In five years I would be back home in Chicago and she would die. She was only fifty six. It was terrible. A terrible end to an incredible woman.
The rain has stopped now. I’m sitting in the other room. I ate a bowl of my homemade granola. Johnny Mars is on the radio and I’m wondering what to do next. I’ve had a sort of shut down couple of days. It’s been quiet and a bit lonely. I haven’t accomplished much of anything. That can be okay. Everything felt a bit overwhelming. So I just let it be.
Now there is light in the sky. Some blue is showing through. It’s time to just, “shake it off”. Sometimes it’s good to just stop. At some point though, I gotta push through. If I lose momentum all together it becomes too hard to get started again.
