There was some wonderful cool air coming across from out at the lake. Dramatic cloud formations were moving across the sky.
I slept well. I’m hurrying off to the Y soon. Getting there early gives me time to enjoy a bit of a swim before the class starts. Before the summer camp kids arrive.
Ummm, what else? The coffee is good. I can hear the mowers out in the park. The smell of freshly mowed grass is coming in on the breeze.
I’m okay, feeling better. That last week of super heat and smoke really pulled me under. I love this apartment. So what if this summer is an inside summer. I do sorely miss the beach. I miss walking in the park. It’s just not a safe summer. This too shall pass.
I have the Y. There are new friends and laughter. It’s great fun!!
I do need to earn some dough. Figuring that out is a challenge. I’m in debt up to my eyeballs. Again!
Then today, I woke up just a hair after six. Nicholas is out in the garden shouting across to whomever it is out there with him, Manuel? Maybe? There was someone out on the street in the midst of a manic episode of some kind. That was last night. Staccato barking at the moon for hours. Poor thing. Lost their mind. I completely understand. I hope they found some soft grass to lie down in. I hope some sort of peace arrived.
I saw a hawk a few minutes ago. I looked up from the puzzles for a second and there it was! Wonderful! It was such a joy to sleep with the windows open. The things we take for granted!Clean air. The hawks. The beach and the park. To be mostly in my right mind. These are things to cherish. Wonderful gifts.
